Applicants should be proficient in all of the following areas and be able to function successfully in a self-paced instructional environment. - Uncontracted and contracted Braille - Keyboarding - Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP - Basic and advanced Microsoft Word 2007 - Basic and advanced MS Access 2007 - Basic and Advanced MS Excel 2007 - Internet Explorer. - Basic HTML - Basic and advanced MS PowerPoint - Basic Math and English to ABE level - GED Preparation As these courses are offered using adaptive technology and specialized equipment, and software, instructors must have training or equivalent experience and knowledge of devices and software used in the program. Examples include: - Perkins Braille writer - CCTV - Braille embosser - Refreshable Braille displays and notetakers - Scanner and Open Book software - JAWS for Windows and ZoomText software - Duxbury Braille translation software. The following criteria must be met: - A Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis on Special Education - The Provincial Instructor's Diploma or equivalent (completed or in progress) or equivalent certification, ie. Master in Adult Education - Demonstrated knowledge of academic subject areas and adaptive technology - Certificate in grade two literary Braille or equivalent, and knowledge of additional Braille codes for math and computer Braille
